Samsung gets back to the basics and provides consumers a cheap phone that is light to the pocket figuratively and literally. This phone might be on the bottom of the chain but it surely knows how to be the best down there.
The Galaxy Pocket S5300 an 832MHz processor working with a 289MB RAM. It operates on a Gingerbread with TouchWiz interface on top. The device can basically operate on quad-band and dual-band 3G networks. It has an internal storage of up to 3GB but can be expanded to 32GB using a microSD.
Other features include a basic 2MP camera that is geotagging capable. It also has GPS receiver, MicroUSB, Bluetooth, Swype input, Stereo FM, and integration to Social network.
Looking at its main components reveals the weakness of the Pocket S5300. The camera has no flash, it has no secondary camera, and its camera’s focus is just fixed. In addition, the video recording is on a turtle like 15fps. It does not support Adobe Flash.
The Galaxy Pocket S5300 has Gingerbread with the Touchwiz on top. The processor does well for its purpose. The display has a small screen so it does not have any lag. Working with the home screens though seems to be crammed with a very small space to manipulate with.
The web browser does not have Flash support plus the screen is too small so you need to zoom in to read what you are browsing thru.
The Galaxy Pocket is a phone for the beginners. It offers the basics of everything from size, screen resolution, processor, imaging, and other specs. The ost though is great if you are looking for a very affordable gadget that can do simple browsing and handle the basic apps. It is a bit unfair to compare this beginner phone with other phones in the market. It serves its purpose well.Tags: Android Gingerbread, Samsung, Samsung Galaxy Pocket s5300, Smartphone, Swype, TouchWiz
